Policemen and Firefighters Honored at Chanukah Party

Members of the Police and Fire departments were honored at a Chanukah party last night for their outstanding work and service to our community. Among those honored were the former commanding officer of the 71st Precinct and the lieutenants of the 38th Battalion’s Ladder 123 and Engine 234.

The event was organized by the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council, and was held in the Shul at 935 Eastern Parkway.

Honored at the event was Deputy Inspector John Lewis, who is currently serving as the Commanding Officer of the School Safety Division of Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island and formerly the CO of the 71st Precinct.

Also honored alongside the Inspector were members of the 71st Precinct’s Community Affairs Division: Sergeant Alfred Kelley and Police Officers Richard Silverstein and Frank Bulzoni.

The Commanding Officer of the 77th Precinct, Captain Eddie Lott, was honored as well, alongside Lieutenant James Woods of the Patrol Borough Brooklyn South.

Another group of public servants that are – thankfully – not seen as often are the firefighters, who run into burning buildings from which others flee. Recognizing the danger of their jobs and the selflessness they display doing it, honors were given to Lt. Hill and Lt. Santosas, who serve in the 38th Battalion’s Engine 234 and Ladder 123, located in the firehouse on S. Johns Pl. and Troy Avenue.

Captain Lott is an incredible human being. He is sensitive and very accommodating in times of distress.

I met him yesterday along with a senior Rabbi of our community to help get a father back to his family.

He is a shining example of a wonderful human being.

    Thank you Captain Lott.

You will always be remembered for your senstivity and kindness.
