New Torah Completed Two Years After Chabad House Robbery
On Gimmel Tammuz there was a Siyum Sefer Torah held for a Torah written in memory of Rabbi Tzvi Yosef Kotlarsky OBM by his children and grandchildren in conjunction with Chabad of Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Two years ago a few days before Pesach there was a break-in in the Shul of Bnei Tzedek Chabad in Kenosha, there were a number of items that were stolen but two Sifery Torah that were stolen on that day was by far the biggest tragedy. A few months later on Yud Aleph Kislev Reb Tzvi Yosef Kotlarsky OBM was Niftar.
Rabbi Tzali Wilschanski, the Shliach to Kenosha Wisconsin and a grandson of Rabbi Kotlarsky, decided that it would only be appropriate to have a Sefer Torah written for the community and in memory of his grandfather and with that he set out to have a Sefer Torah written and restored to the Shul in Kenosha.
A few months ago – through an amazing miracle – the Sifrey Torah that were stolen were found and restored to their rightful place! But this did not deter the community or the family and now one year after the Sefer Torah was started it was finished on Gimemel Tamuz and will be brought to the Chabad house of Kenosha where there will be a Hachnosa on Sunday the 28th of Av and it will serve there as their new Sefer Torah.

A thank you goes to the entire extended Kotlarsky families Rabbi and Mrs Moshe Kotlarsky, Rabbi and Mrs Mendel Kotlarsky, Rabbi and Mrs S.Z Wilschanski, Rabbi and Mrs Mendel Hershkop, Rabbi and Mrs Tzvi Perlman, Rabbi and Mrs Nachman Hershkowitz, and Rabbi and Mrs Yossi Shemtov and their children.
A big thank you is extended as well to the Kenosha community for all their help and effort in making this possible, and making the completion of this Sefer Torah a reality.
