The room was set with royalty and the head table was lined with the many awards and prizes.

The evening began with a special video presentation of the Rebbe, speaking about the importance of learning Torah in ones own spare time.

Before anything else, the Rebbe’s kapitul was read allowed, posuk by posuk by Hatomim Zalman Rosenfeld of the 7th grade at Lubavitcher Yeshiva.

The evening was mc’d by a duo of the directors of Mishmor; Yitzchok Pevsner and Menachem Orenstein and they gave out the awards and prizes to all the bochurim and students in attendance.

Hatomim Yanky Blasburg, also of the 7th grade, delivered an astounding Dvar Torah, spoke of his experience and the joy he had to go to Mishmor each week.

Rabbi Simpson, principal of Lubavitcher Yeshiva spoke of how the banquet reminded him of his days in summer camp, he addressed the bochurim, thanking them immensely for their dedication and time. He also gave a special thank you to the Mishmor organizers.

As everyone waited patiently in their seats for all of the awards to be done and for the concluding picture slide show of the entire year to be shown, Rabbi Shmuly Turk, a melamed at the Yeshiva, took to the mike and presented a surprise award to each of the organizers of Mishmor, Yitzchok Pevsner and Menachem Orenstein, in appreciation of their dedication and leadership. There was also a special award for the founder of Mishmor in Crown Heights, Zevi Gutleizer, who has continuously been involved and constantly guiding even while on Shlichus out of town.

The hope is that Mishmor will imbue a commitment to learning in ones free time as well as a senior role model for each child to look up to.
