I am torn between “Never too young to learn or teach” by Mushkie Lowenthal and Levi Aranow’s photo of the man with the sifrei Torahs. Both beautifully illustrate Yiddishkeit.

  • Chosid

The set of Igros of the Rebbe by Meir Simcha Rubashkin personifies the chance to educate ourselves and inspire others to follow in the footsteps of our Rebbe, especially the younger generation of these finalists many whom have never seen the Rebbe.

  • WOW!

Love the elephant (Dovber Streiten) and child playing chess(Nissi Yomtov).- totally touched my heart.

  • Rivkah

I especially like the picture of the yid davening by Shmuly Brafman, May the words of my mouth…It was taken in a way that makes me feel the energy. Great picture!

  • BETTER MAKE THE RIGHT MOVE!

While each and every picture portrays a profound message… “Better make the right move in life” definitely captures the most powerful message for today’s day and age.

The cute boy, young and innocent, with his whole life ahead of him, has his parents and his teachers to give him guidance, to tell him how to behave, and how to blossom into a true fine gentleman.

But at some point or another, the child will have to make his own decision, he will have to choose the right path upon which to make his journey. Yes, he will be able to use the good guidance he’s received from his parents and teachers, but the ultimate choice will be his.

Like a chess game, the path is paved with complicated moves and decisions, one must use caution, one must think ahead. One move of his night or his rook to the left or to the right can cost him his game. It may seem tempting to knock the Pawn or the Bishop of the opponent, but the opponent may be luring him into a trap, maybe in 5 moves, maybe 10.

Indeed, we better make the right choice, for if we don’t, we have nobody to blame but ourselves. People in this world spend hours talking about how their parents caused them to become like this or like that.

We are given the choice, let us make the right one!

  • go shmueli

I Loved Shmuli Brafman’s picture of the man in the Tallis in the woods in the sunshine

  • Educated and Inspired

Levi Aronov, with his original picture and comment has captured for us a glimpse of “behind the scenes” of an every day part of being a Yid, that we would otherwise never get to see.

His picture is sharp, clear and insightful.

  • My opinion

I think the picture by Mushkie Lowenthal was just amazing! As a parent it really hits home the concept of teaching youngsters. Mushkie, that picture is really something.

The runner up in my opinion, is MM Horbacher. I happen to love such pictures. It truly captures the beauty of Hashem’s world.

  • FAT Z.

I love MS Rubashkin’s entry. He chose to use a controversial photo with an inspiring message rather than a “pretty” picture. The beauty of the photo is only noticed on second glance, when you notice all the many papers stuffed into the books. His “simple” picture conveys a powerful moving message in a very subtle and artistic way. Go Dr.MS!

  • postville

the point of this challenge was about educate and inspire Meir Simcha’s picture is exactly that, how the Rebbe continues to educate and inspire us like it says in hayom yom and in many other places in chassidus the way to conect to a Rebbe is through learning his torah

  • Igros letters

    i vote for Rubashkin!
If we don’t live with the Igros now, then what else do we have left?
Let us all have emunah and Bitachon
    The photo has unbelievable quality.
i like the reflections on top.
and the letters sticking out make it so real!

  • a man from below

Mushkie Lowenthal’s picture sums up our responsibilities as jews, everyone can learn from someone who know more, and teach someone who who does not know so much.
