Op-Ed: Package Theft Plague in Crown Heights, What You Can Do to Help

As a member of the Crown Heights Jewish community, I am concerned about the recent spate of package theft that has occurred over the past couple of weeks. These crimes, which have caused significant inconvenience and financial hardship for the victims, must be brought to an immediate end.

But how can we address this issue and protect ourselves and our communities from package theft? One effective strategy is the installation of security cameras, which can deter potential thieves and provide valuable evidence in the event of a crime. Utilizing package delivery lockers can also offer a secure location for packages to be delivered, rather than being left vulnerable on one’s doorstep. Additionally, simply being more mindful of when packages are set to be delivered can help prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.

As I consider the root causes of this problem, I can’t help but wonder if a lack of morality is to blame. Perhaps our schools should be doing more to teach children about the importance of honesty and integrity. After all, it is through education that we can instill strong values in our youth and help prevent crimes like package theft from occurring.

It is also essential for community members to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
