Op-Ed: Talking About Giving Away Land is Dangerous

by Yoseph Janowski

Thirty-three years ago, on 26 Adar Sheini 5749, the Lubavitcher Rebbe told Ron Nachman, the then mayor of Ariel, that Israel’s prime minister should declare, that rumours about giving away land are false. The Rebbe explained that the rumours motivate those who want to do intafadas and other negative actions. (To see the video, you can type into Google search: The Lubavitcher Rebbe on the roadmap to peace in Israel.)

The events of the last two months prove the Rebbe’s point. First Yossi Beilin presented a new plan for a two state solution. Diplomats like Blinken, Gantz and Lapid jumped on the bandwagon, with statements and meetings to promote two states. And then came the wave of terrorist attacks, chas vesholom.

In the past, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has emphatically declared that Israel will not give away any land. But with the new wave of rumours, it has become urgently necessary, that he now states clearly and strongly that the rumours are false, and that Israel is not going to give away land.

As Pesach and the month of redemption approaches, may we soon see the complete redemption when, as the prophet predicts, “Just as in the days when you left Egypt, I will show you wonders,” a time of world peace, when “the world will be filled with the knowledge of G-d, just like the waters cover the sea.”

To the writer of the first comment : If you have nothing nice to write then please do not write it.

I live here in Yerushalayim and what Janowsky writes here is not so obvious to many people living here.

Based on your comment, I think that the heading should be changed to: What Bennett Needs to Do.

Perhaps if the message is spread, especially to people in Israel, it may encourage Bennett to do what the Rebbe said.

  • Many private meetings between Bennet and Arab leaders last week

When yidden are being used as karbonos just because they are walking down the street in our land of Eretz Yisroel, and our miraculous existence gets disturbed and questioned, what is Hashem telling us?

I don’t know. But being a Lubavitcher I naturally look back at what the Rebbe has taught us.

Can it be that parts of Eretz Yisroel are being given away by Bennet secretly?
