Op-Ed: What is Tahareinu and Why Support It?
As is well known, one if the 10 mivtzoyim of the Rebbe is מבצע טהרת המשפחה. In a sicha (לקו”ש חלק יג עמ’ 259-260)
discussing (announcing) the מבצע, the Rebbe stresses that in addition to the fact that Taharas Hamishpachah is a foundational Mitzvah, it also affects the נשמה’s (and physical body’s) health. As well as the purity of Jewish children, which this in turn affects all future Jewish generations!
Besides for the complexities of the Halachos of Taharas Hamishpachah which are well known, there are a lot of complexities when it comes to women’s health and which doctors to see (1), how they can affect the Halachos of Taharas Hamishpachah, and how they both affect (שלום בית (2.
In addition to the sensitivity that is required, it can be also very daunting for anyone to try to navigate the maze of health and הלכה issues that arise and to know where to turn, how to deal with them, and to even know if/that they can be dealt with.
Enter Tahareinu. Tahareinu – as its name suggests – serves to help guide and educate the public that there is hope and solutions out there to be able to help be מטהר and keep Taharas Hamishpachah in the easiest way possible even in the most daunting situations, and that most situations which arise can bez”H be properly dealt with, with no need to suffer in silence without knowing what – and if there is what – to do.
One question that arises is, what is the difference between Tahareinu and the other well known organizations?
The answer is that other organizations deal primarily with fertility related issues and guidance, whereas Tahareinu deals with the whole range of women’s health issues, keeping up to date with the latest medical advances and solutions to help guide struggling couples. Ultimately many of these issues can lead to fertility issues, and more.
Tahareinu keeps up to date by traveling and joining many women’s health medical conferences, and they have a hotline staffed with almost 60 trained advisers to help callers with the appropriate guidance. In addition they offer extensive training to Rabbonim, Chosson teachers, and kallah teachers to help them guide others.
Please reach out to their hotline (https://tahareinu.com/hotline/) for anonymous help, and for those which can please help support this extremely important work by donating to their campaign!

1 See for example לקו”ש חלק לז עמ’ 187 two letters where the Rebbe stresses the importance of going to specialists in specific areas of women’s health.
2 See for example
