NYCHA Section 8 Housing Voucher Waitlist Gets 150,000 Applications Within Hours
NYCHA has already received more than 150,000 applications for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, which provides rental aid for low-income families.
Applications to join the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program’s waitlist opened at midnight Monday. By afternoon, more than 150,000 people had already submitted applications, according to NYCHA officials.
The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program is a federally funded program administrated by NYCHA. Section 8 rental vouchers help low-income families afford rent when searching for housing in the private market.
