Pregnant Woman Killed by Snowplow; Baby Saved

A 36-year-old pregnant woman was struck and killed by a snowplow in Brooklyn during Thursday’s storm, but doctors were able to save her baby, police said.

The woman was hit by the plow in the parking lot of a supermarket on Eighth Avenue in Sunset Park.

She was taken to the hospital, where she died. Doctors performed a cesarean section and her baby boy is in stable but critical condition, police said.

The plow was not city-owned, authorities said.

This whole story really sounds off, how is it that som1 gets killed by a snow plow, the driver 1st of all is supposed 2 b driving slow & takin caution, & on the pedestrians r also supposed 2 b careful wen crossin the street & also wait 4 all the cars 2 come 2 a complete stop, so how is it that this could have happened ? There has 2 b more 2 the story.

It was in a parking lot. Visibility is already reduced and the driver cannot be held fully responsible for this, no more than if my child runs into a street and is hit, can the driver be held responsible for my child’s actions. Everyone needs to be more careful than normal.

You do know that this isn’t a text message, right? You’re able to spell out words fully here.

The article says that it was in a parking lot, so the fact that “pedestrians [a]r[e] also supposed [to] b[e] careful w[h]en crossin[g] the street…” is irrelevant here.

The plow was not city owned, but the illustration photo you use looks like a city owned plow.

  • CH

    Why is this on CROWNHEIGHTS.info?

    DIdn’t happen here…

I feel bad for the lady – but I can read news about Sunset Park on other Brooklyn sites – I like the fact that this site has just CH news

  • 2 # 5 & Ezra

This website isnt only abt CH Sorry 2 tell u, they cover world Luavitch news as well, that isnt the issue but if this did happen in Sunset Park then yes u could ask y is it on CH info, do we need 2 cover Bklyn News ? 2 Ezra, u r right this isnt a txt msg however being that its comments there is nothin wrng with makin it shorter. Y is that an issue 4 u ?

    • Ezra

Yes, in fact there is something “wr[o]ng with makin[g] it shorter.” Namely: it makes you look like an illiterate person, and – more to the point – it makes it harder for anyone else to read.

    • Nice easy 2 read

I like it shorter gets frustrating reading so many comments thanks for shortening

  • Bottom Line

You need to keep your eyes open in all directions, be it in Sunset park, CH, or anywhere. V’Hashem Yishmor.

Who says u cant use short hand writing 4 makin comments its not harder 2 read, & here is the main point bec of txtin every1 knows how 2 read short hand maybe 4 u its an issue but know 1 else has an issue with it, especially on a frum website where no 1 cares anyway, ppl know that we r not writing an article so y is it a big deal, & if u dont know how 2 read short hand by now there is an issue with that, its time 2 learn. & it doesnt make u look illiterate bec every1 knows that its short hand. Btw its not hard 2 learn

  • Apalled

A woman is killed, her baby is left motherless and all you can do is bicker about whether or not texting style is appropriate? Or whether or not the right plow was depicted? I cannot believe how cold and callous all of you are!

“Apalled” is right, of course. So:

      BDE
      Moshiach now!!eleventy!
      Oy
      How horrible!

      Any other cliches I’ve missed?
