BDE: Reb Yaakov Yitzchak Dalfin, 78, OBM

With great sadness we report the passing of Reb Yankel Dalfin OBM, the younger brother of Reb Aron Dalfin of Crown Heights.

He was 78 years old.

Born in Romania, raised in Eretz Yisrael he came to America in 1963. His brother arranged that he learned in the Lubavitcher yeshiva utill 1969. His teachers included Reb Dovid Raskin, Reb Yoel Kahan, and his Roshei Yeshivas included Rabbis Mentlick, Ushpal and Bukiet. He was also the Chavrusa to Reb Moshe Kotlarsky while in the Yeshiva at Bedford and Dean during the beis midrash years.

He was Zoiche to have several yechudisn with the Rebbe and the Rebbe guided him on various areas. He had the merit of cleaning the Kerestirer Mikva before the Rebbe used it.

With the Rebbe’s Brocha he moved in 1976 to Costa Rica before there was a shliach there. He raised a full frum family without much frumkeit available. Today, they are bnei Torah and respectable members of their communities.

His wife, Yehudis supported and helped create this.

After years in Costa Rica, he moved to Miami. He davened at the JLC of Chabad on 41st Street and held regular daily shiurim. In his modest, quiet way, he gave tzedaka and always had a pleasant demeanor to all.
