With great pain and sadness we inform you of the passing of Reb Meir Itkin at the age of 96. Reb Meir was born in the village of ‘Nevel’ in Russia on Chof Tammuz 5671.

Reb Meir was a fixture in 770 with his house just a few feet away, where he was seen Davening and Farbrenging every Shabbos and then some! His daily Chavrusa with Reb Yehuda Chitrik A”H in 770 was familiar sight as well.

The Levaya will be Tommrow, Friday, and will be leaving for the Shomrai Hadas Chapels at around 11:30am and will be passing by 770 at around 12:00pm.

Boruch Dayan Emes. One of the last physical links to the old world of Chabad, the times of great mesirus nefesh and devotion to Yiddishkeit in the worst of times has left us. Sadly, he had to endure the news of his son AH’s very premature petira and now they are together in the highest reaches of Gan Eden.

I guess everyone knows what I will be making kiddush on this Shabbos here in the Rebbe’s shtodt in memory of Reb Meir AH. Vehekitzu…vehu besoicham (and there will be plenty of "96" flowing on that day, let it be NOW!)

  • BACHURE FROM OHELI TORAH 73------75

B-D-H ONE OF THE LAST FROM NEVEL,TO LEAVE US , HE MADE KIDISH ON 96 AND HE LIVED TILL 96 , HE WAS THE ESSEINCE OF A TRUE CHOSSID, MAY HE ASK 4 MOSHICH NOW- TODAY B-4 SHABBOS

  • Zeks un neintziker

what a coincidence; Reb Meir would make kiddush every Shabbos on Zeks un neintziker and he lived until 96. Could you imagine what would be if he would have made kiddush on 100% alcohol? He’d probably be living another 4 years:)

Everyone surely knows the story of when Reb Meir went to see a doctor. The doctor, after a brief examination, informed him that he had too much water in his lungs. Reb Meir, upon exiting the doctors office commented: "I always knew that the 4% water would cause me harm."

Don’t get me wrong – Drink responsibly!

    L’chaim!

he was the most special man iv’e ever known:)how can you leave us:(
    WE NEED MOSHIACH!!

  • I feel for you, Itkin Family

    BDE,
    To the entire Itkin family,
It made me cry to open up crownhieghts.info this morning. I must say that I remember hearing stories from my Zeideh about R’ Meir in Nevel. It hurts to think about the pain that his petirah causes, and having my Zeideh around until 96 too, and his being a fixture of 770, I can tell you that it doesnt make it easier to bare, when a Zeideh goes at that age. May his Petirah and Entrance to Gan Eden be the catalyst that all of us Yidden need for the new year, May he be the factor that brings Moshiach NOW!
With tears in my eyes, I wish you all,
    Hamokom Yenachem eschem,,,,,
And may we know of no more suffering.
Morah Teichtel, Mrs. Rapoport, I am thinking about you this Shabbos.

I love you Zeidy! Sitting at shiva truly brought home to me "ashreinu", that i am so lucky to have a zeidy like you, whos mesiras nefesh and connection to nevel made me the lubavitcher i am today.
