He was a very special person. A real tzaddik and chosid of the Rebbe. He kept Torah and Mitzvois all his life in Soviet Russia. He moved to Crown Heights in 1991 and had a very special connections to the Rebbe. He is the only one who survived from his big family after the war. And now his children and grandchildren are shluchim of the Rebbe in Russia and Israel. That gave him a big big nachas.

We had a very special zechus to daven with Reb Shiya ZT’L in Bais Binyamin, Reb Shiya as we would all refer to him, would never sit during davening even on Yom Kippur! the last years he was standing we could see how painful it was for him. In his zechus many of our prayers were answered.
Let us all learn from Reb Shiya ZT’l that the only way to properly continue with our beautiful shul is through Achdus!
