Another sore loss to our community, Rabbi Fox [read Fuks] was the nicest most sincere person. I remember growing up and davening in Lefferts Shul how he would learn with my father and always have a nice thing to say to me.

Once I overheard my father say that if it were up to him, the g’mach coffers would be penniless and empty, he would just give it all it. He had a heart as big as any and I for one will sorely miss him!

  • Memories

I remember when I was a little child when I used to go to shul during the week for Mincha and Maariv Rabbi Fox would always call me over and ask me what I learned in school that day and I would sit down and he would test me on it.
These memories will always remain with me.

Rabbi Fox was well versed and knew by heart the entire talmud, and every trop on every word of the parshayos, had a phenomenal memory and was a pleasure to talk with at all times. he was nifter on the 70th year since WWII broke out [in the Hebrew calendar] on the 17th of Elul. He was truly a member and revelation of the pre-war times. we truly miss him! we should merit that all who dwell in the dust will awaken and rejoice and Rabbi Fox amongst them, very soon!!!

He would tutor us in ULY. He was so familiar with shas, he usto open his gemorro with his thumb and w/o loking at the page he would tell us what daf he opened up to.

When I was in his class in the 7th grade, he would always tell us stories about the yeshiva in shanghai china.

The reason I asked about his age was not to be disrespectful in any way, but when we were children we were curious about his age, and if i remember correctly in 1983 he took out a penny that was minted in 1962 and implied he was 62 at the time.

When he was my teacher he was very fair to all the students, we all have good memories of him.

    Boruch Dayan Hoemes.

Rabbi Fux once told me that when he was in Yeshiva in Warsaw, the Frierdfiker Rebbe insisted that he should be the learning Chavruso of His grandchild the son of the Rashag.
