Weekly Letter: The Patriarch of the Priestly Line
In these parshios – where the Tribe of Levy is being counted and their responsibilities are enumerated, we gain an appreciation for the Kohanim/priests and their elevated status. In his letter, the Rebbe gives encouragement to a young man, a Kohen, and an interesting insight into the status of the daughters of Aharon Hakohen – the patriarch of the priestly line.

Mr.
Kfar Chabad
Greeting and Blessing;
I was pleased to receive regards through…, who also reported to me on your progress in the study of the Torah, both Nigleh and Chasidus and your advancement in the observance of the mitzvoth with hiddur. …Also turned over your donation, which was earmarked for the “Keren Ho’esrim,” of which you have no doubt heard.
I send you may prayerful wishes to go form strength to strength, together with al the members of your family. As I have occasion to mention before, a Kohen has special responsibilities and privileges because of his elevated status, the essential duty being that “They shall teach Thy judgments to Jacob and Thy Torah to Israel.” (Deut. 33:10). This applies of course, also to your father and brothers, as well as to the ladies in the family, your mother and sisters, for also the daughters of Aharon Hakohen enjoy a special status among the women of Israel. Furthermore, and I have emphasized this also in the past, where G-d bestows special responsibilities and duties, He provides also the capacity and opportunities to carry them out.
With blessing,
