Chaim V’Chessed: New Yorkers in Israel – Make Sure You’re Registered to Vote

With the November 3 New York State general election approaching, Chaim V’Chessed is reminding eligible New Yorkers currently in Israel to make sure they are registered and able to participate in the important upcoming election.

New York has one of the largest populations of U.S. citizens living in Israel, and officials have told Chaim V’Chessed that thousands of New York residents currently in Israel may be eligible to vote from abroad.

The upcoming election includes the race for New York State Governor, along with other federal, state and local offices. Eligible overseas voters can register and request an absentee ballot through the appropriate election authorities.

Important deadline: New Yorkers living abroad who are not currently registered to vote must submit their registration by October 24, 2026 in order to vote in the November election.

If you are a New York voter living in Israel, now is the time to make sure you are registered and have taken the necessary steps to vote.

New York is not the only state holding important elections this year. U.S. citizens living in Israel who are registered to vote in other states should also make sure they understand their state’s requirements and deadlines for voting from overseas.

For information about voting eligibility and participation for U.S. citizens living abroad, visit the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP), which provides state-specific information for overseas voters.

Chaim V’Chessed encourages eligible New Yorkers – and all U.S. citizens in Israel who are eligible to vote – to take the necessary steps now to ensure they can participate in the upcoming elections, and to share this information with family and friends.
