Patis Bakery Locations Drop Their OU Certification As Ownership Transitions

by CrownHeights.info

Patis Bakery, which previously had a location in Crown Heights, is in the process of transitioning to new ownership, and has discontinued their OU Kosher certification to their locations.

“OU Kosher continues to certify the central Patis Bakery commissary,” the OU wrote in an alert to the Jewish community. “Due to various considerations during the transition to new ownership, Patis has chosen not to continue certification at any store locations.”

This does not mean that the stores are no longer kosher though, as various shops may have other hashgachos. The OK noted that they “recommend that consumers verify that it meets their [Kosher] standards.”

Patis filed for bankruptcy in 2024, closing multiple locations as the company reconstructed its finances.
