Shabbos Kestenbaum Takes Break From Activism To Donate A Kidney Through Renewal
by CrownHeights.info
Shabbos Kestenbaum, known as the American Jewish activist and graduate of Harvard who sued the school for failure to protect Jewish students, has taken a break from his activism and was in the hospital today to donate his kidney.
“This morning, instead of taking to the media to advocate for the Jewish community in the wake of last night’s terror attack, Shabbos Kestenbaum is in the operating room to donate his kidney to save a life of someone he has never met,” Renewal wrote on social media. “Instead of fighting back with words, he’s choosing to lead with action, embodying the highest values of selflessness, kindness and altruism.”
Shabbos was photographed in preparation for the surgery holding a plush Renewal kidney and giving a thumbs up.
Renewal, the Jewish organization that facilitates matches for those in need of kidney transplants, has led the nation in kidney donations, providing a new lease on life to hundreds of people each year.
Please say Tehillim for the speedy recovery of the donor: Yisroel Yekusiel Yakir Shabbos ben Basya Chana and the recipient: Yisroel ben Sofia
