Publication from Harav Kalmanson of Burnoy Seeks To Clarify Regarding Reshus Harabim

A beautiful new publication has been released by the great gaon and author of 35 seforim including the sefer אפיקי מים and ומי טל, Rosh Yeshiva of Brunoy, France Harav Yechiel Menachem Mendel Kalmanson שליט”א, about the Alter Rebbe’s opinion that reshus harabim does not exist these days.

The publication was written following a Kol Koreh published by sixteen Rabbonim saying that a Reshus Harabim does not exist in this day and age. The Kol Koreh ignited a flurry of controversy, where multiple Rabbanim, including Rabbi Berl Levine and Rav Shmuel Zajac held a desenting opinion.

This is the first publication of three part series being released on this subject.

The first is to prove that the Alter Rebbe paskened like shitas Rashi, that it takes 600,000 to make a reshus harabim. The second part will be about how we calculate shishim ribui, and how it must be on one street. The third part will I”YH be about מפולש, showing that the roads have to be straight from one end to the other. The fourth part will be about how mechitzas habatim make our cities a rshus hayochid.
