Thursday Night, the Fifth night of Chanukah, Jew in the City blogger Allison Josephs hosted a Chanukah Party in Kehilath Jeshurun in Manhattans Upper East Side. The party featured the launch of “Top 10 Orthodox Jewish All Stars” video.

The event was sponsored by Freeda Wigs as well as The Patchke Princess, Gift of Life and The Kosher Scene.

The complete list of Orthodox Jewish All Stars also includes BillBoard Top 10 Recording Artist Alex Clare, basketball star Tamir Goodman, former HBO senior writer/producer Jamie Geller, YouTube a capella sensation The Maccabeats, former U.S. Supreme Court law clerk and founder of non-profit breast cancer support group Rochelle Shoretz, Best-Selling novelist Faye Kellerman, comedian Mendy Pellin, and Rhodes scholar Miriam Rosenbaum, United States Senator Joseph Lieberman and professional boxer Dmitriy Salita.

All ten stars appear in the new video below, and speak about their careers and lives as observant Jews. Many of the All Stars attended the launch party in the Upper East Side of Manhattan on the evening of December 13, the sixth night of Chanukah.

“The final list showcases ten of the most successful Orthodox Jews, both men and women, in a variety of professions, and I hope helps to debunk the myth that all Orthodox men are rabbis and that all Orthodox women are homemakers who are prohibited to work outside the home,” explained Josephs. “But the truth is that these incredible individuals are representative of thousands more who are balancing professional success and religious observance every day, often out of the spotlight. That’s really the inspirational message we want people to take from the video—you too can lead a spiritually committed life without sacrificing professional success. In fact, in America, today there doesn’t need to be a trade-off between religious observance and professional success.”

Josephs is the spiritual mentor to actress Mayim Bialik, and was named one of NJOP’s Top Ten Jewish Influence’s in 2012. She is often quoted in the media on issues relating to Jewish life and observance, lectures widely across North America, has been featured in The Daily Beast, Huffington Post, and Yahoo News, among many other publications, and has written articles for the Jewish Press and The Forward, among other publications. Josephs, who is married with four children, has been involved in the field of Jewish education and outreach for over a dozen years, and received her Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University in Philosophy.
