Israeli Among Killed on Downed German Airliner

Israel’s Foreign Ministry confirmed today that an Israeli citizen was on an Airbus operated by Lufthansa’s Germanwings budget airline that crashed in a remote area of the French Alps earlier in the day.

The family has been informed, the ministry said. The man, a 40-year-old originally from Hod HaSharon, was living in Germany and was flying back from Barcelona when the plane went down.

The victim was identified as Eyal Baum, according to Ynet.

One of the plane’s black box recorders has been found and will be examined immediately, France’s interior minister said.
