Victim in Copenhagen Shul Attack Identified

Memebers of the Jewish community in Copenhagen, Denmark identified the victim in the shooting at the Krystalgade Synagogue as Dan Uzan HY”D, 37, who was a volunteer standing guard while a Bas Mitzvah was taking place inside.

Terror unfolded in Copenhagen, Denmark on Saturday afternoon at the Krudttoenden cafe. A gunman opened fire on a free-speech event hosted by cartoonist Lars Vilks, 68, which was taking place inside. One man was killed iin the attack and the suspect fled on foot.

A few hours later, just after midnight a second shooting occurred outside that Krystalgade Synagogue. A gunman opened fire on one civilian and two police officers. The civilian, later identified as Dan Uzan, was mortally wounded and later succumbed to his wounds.

Uzan was a volunteer security guard for the Shul and was standing guard while a Bas Mitzvah ceremony was taking place.

On Sunday Danish police confronted a suspect in the shooting in the Noerrebro district of Copenhagen. He was shot dead after opening fire on police officers. The BBC quoted law enforcement sources who confirmed that this was the man wanted in connection with both shootings and he was not identified.

“Denmark has been hit by terror,” Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt said Sunday. “We do not know the motive for the alleged perpetrator’s actions, but we know that there are forces that want to hurt Denmark. They want to rebuke our freedom of speech.”

    Providing “security”?!?! Was he armed?? If I had to bet (being that almost all of Europe is nearly the same as NYC, NYS and NJ in that it is virtually impossible to legaly carry a concealed weapon for protection) I would say that he wasn’t. That begs the question; what exactly is security then? Oh, I know! It must mean standing at the door looking all “tough” to give everyone inside a false “sense of security” and when an armed terrorist comes to carry out his murderous intentions, you can whip out you cellphone to call the police – while the terrorist literally “puts a bullet into your head”, as we just witnessed, with you being able to do absolutely NOTHING about it!!!
    When is the Frum world going to wake up and realize that WE have to be the ones to take control of our own security?!?!
    How many more Denmarks’, Paris’, Mumbais’, Har Nofs’ is it going to take?!?!
    When are we going to stop “pooo poooing” and feeling sorry ourselves (and of course commiserating about “nebach, how awful it is) and take charge?!?!?!?!
    When are we going to see the headlines “Armed Rabbi kills jihadi terrorists who attacked synagogue during Sabbath service”!!! When?!?!?!?
