60 Rockets Pound Israel in 1 Hour

More than 60 rockets were launched out of Gaza in one hour alone this afternoon, many of them landing deep inside Israeli territory. With the IDF authorized to mobilize 40,000 troops, many fear that Israel is on the brink of yet another full-scale war.

More than 60 rockets were launched out of Gaza in one hour alone this afternoon, the greatest indicator yet that Israel is on the brink of yet another full-scale operation against Hamas.

Today, following an emergency security meeting, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a tiered response, after weeks of near-constant rocket fire out of the Strip.

Also Monday, Hamas took responsibility for the increased onslaught, a rare form of accountability from the terror group. Hamas also vowed today that it would hit Tel Aviv.

Hamas’s ability reach large, metropolitan cities has been a concern for the Israeli government, which last faced such threats in 2012’s Operation Pillar of Defense. That eight-day mission was an aim to decimate Hamas, a goal that will undoubtedly be the same this time around should the Jewish state announce a new military operation.

Meanwhile, 1,500 reservist troops were called up, a measure also taken amid Pillar of Defense.
