Levi Aron to Plead Insanity?

NBC

The main defense lawyer for the man suspected of abducting and killing an 8-year-old boy he met on the street has acquired a new partner with experience in high-profile murder cases, including an insanity defense.

Pierre Bazile announced in an unusual statement on Friday that he had replaced attorney Gerard Marrone with Jennifer McCann on the team representing Levi Aron. Marrone left abruptly this week, saying in various media reports that he had “moral” issues about representing Aron.

Aron was indicted by a grand jury this week on multiple counts, including first-degree murder and kidnapping. He is accused of drugging Leiby Kletzky, smothering him and dismembering his body.

His lawyers have said he hears voices and has hallucinations.

Bazile announced in a statement that McCann “represented Kathleen Prisco, who famously killed her husband and was found not guilty by reason of insanity this past December.”

Bazile also boasted that McCann represented “convicted murderer and dismemberer Nathan Powell and won his appeal for a lesser sentence.”

“She has a reputation for being an aggressive attorney who diligently represents high-profile defendants,” he added.

Aron pleaded not guilty at an initial arraignment last week.

Bazile also blasted Marrone for his comments about the case, saying he is “disappointed by Mr. Marrone’s press comments.”

can anyone tell me if he is Jewish? In Talmud said that a jew can’t kill with such cruelty. Did anyone think about it?

  • Bring back torture

Now this non-human is going to make publicity seeking low life lawyers rich. Let’s hope jail justice will find this sick excuse for a man and end his miserable life so we don’t have to ever think of him again.

Special torture laws should be written for these sub-humans like him and the Norway sicko so they can feel the pain they inflicted on their victims.

so what do the psych evaluations tell?
it doesnt seem likely that he will get this insanity claim.
He had a job, a home, he had a car and was able to drive and more. Plus the general public (not just the jewish community) is interested in him getting the insanity plea

I would not expect such comments from a Chabad Web Site, especially after all the effort they put into to save Martin Grossman.

Can a Mashpiah or Rav please clarify the Chabad Philosophy in this situation, should he be in jail putting on Teffilin, learning torah, etc.

Maybe if he gets off, Justice will be served. Someone will take him out.

  • Mashpiah or Rav? for #7

on this web site? I sure hope they have better things to do that read every post here. Maybe you can get a signed written statement and have that posted? It would be appreciated.

  • Martin Grossman A H

Martin Grossman did teshuva. He was sorry. He admitted he was wrong, and made a major change in his life.
Levi Aron? He said the voices in his head made him do it? There is NO CURE for insanity. Would you feel safe having his as an overnight shabbos guest in your home, or on a camping trip with him?
He’s dangerous. He needs to be monitored, and on meds 24/7. So only a psych ward or prison cell for him, ok?

  • Estie

Well I believe he is jewish being jewsih doesn t mean you re not able of such atrocity go’d prevents …

  • Mr anderson

What do you people think is going to happen if he pleads insanity, he’ll be released to the public like he never did the crime?!?

If he is able to prove that he is insane he will be remanded to a mental health facility probably FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE.

Insanity defense does not let you walk free.

#13 Mr Anderson, here in Montreal Dr Turcotte got off with temporary insanity and will be out in 6 months. They found he had a 1 time stress regarding his wife with his best friend.

The insanity plea should be abolished. I believe they are insane. But if they do these terrible things, they should get the same punishment as anyone else.

Most molesters were molested themselves as children, some go on to develop personality disorders. Most victims don’t go on to lead normal lives.
This cancer must be stopped now.
The Beth Din does not have the power to properly investigate and deal with this.
