Israeli Charged with Fraud Extradited to US

LOS ANGELES, CA [AP] — A man accused of insurance fraud and other crimes has been extradited from Israel to Southern California, marking the first time Israel has extradited an Israeli to the U.S. on state charges under a binational treaty.

California insurance department officials announced Thursday that Moshe “Sanny” Assoulin was returned to the U.S.

Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner says the state issued a warrant for Assoulin’s arrest in 2005 after an investigation into an auto insurance fraud scam that cost car rental companies and insurers about half a million dollars.

Assoulin, who grew up in the San Fernando Valley, was arrested in 2004 on suspicions of selling Ecstasy. When he learned of the insurance investigation, he fled to Israel and a federal warrant was issued for his arrest.

    Why is this here?

Last time I heard we’re supposed to be there for all Jews. When I read this website, I kind of get a different impression.

Funny enough, last weeks Parsha was about Loshon Horo. I guess we still got something to learn!
