Today Is the Last Day of Early Voting in NYC; Election Day Tuesday

Today, Sunday, November 1, is the final day of early voting in New York City ahead of Tuesday’s general election. Polling locations are open from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., giving eligible voters one final opportunity to cast their ballots before Election Day.

Community members who have not yet voted are encouraged to take advantage of early voting, which can offer shorter lines and a quicker voting experience. Voters should note that their early voting location may differ from their regular Election Day polling site.

The Jewish Future Alliance is encouraging Crown Heights residents and the broader Anash community to participate in the election, regardless of their political preferences, emphasizing that elected officials pay attention to communities that demonstrate strong voter turnout.

The Rebbe famously encouraged participation in elections, stating, “Men darf gein voten” (One must go vote).

Several recent developments affecting the Jewish community have also highlighted the importance of civic participation, including legislation strengthening protections for religious institutions against intimidation and obstruction, efforts to support Jewish education through scholarship programs, and New York State’s participation in the federal scholarship tax credit program, which could help families with tuition expenses.

Important reminders for voters:

– Most registered voters do not need to present identification.

– Check both sides of your ballot before submitting it.

– Anyone already in line when polls close is entitled to vote.

Those unable to vote early can still cast their ballots on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3. Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Citizenship Reminder: Only U.S. citizens are eligible to vote in federal and New York State elections. Green card holders are not eligible, and voting when ineligible can carry serious legal and immigration consequences.
