Section 8 Housing Voucher Program Waitlist Opens for Applications
The program that helps low and moderate-income New Yorkers afford to pay rent has opened applications for its waitlist this week.
New Yorkers will have until July 24 at 5 p.m. to apply for the city’s Section 8 waitlist, which will provide rental assistance for apartments available throughout the five boroughs.
The subsidy program typically allows residents to pay 30% of their adjusted monthly income towards their rent while NYCHA pays the remaining amount to the owner on the renter’s behalf.

I’ve been applying for New York City Housing Authority and Section 8. I always renew my application. For me, my husband and son. We stay with a friend we need to move. But rent is too expensive. I have faith in God that one day they will call me.

Would like to have some assistance with a voucher. I have been disabled since 2018. After this, it has been hard to catch up on bills that I accumulated way before I became disabled so having trouble paying rent & bills. I have applied for Section 8, NYCHA, and any other program available for disabled people. I’m disabled sleeping in the living I don’t have my own room and I need support devices to walk around in the apartment I can’t do that cause I have no space. I need a 3 bedroom handicap accessible as soon as possible. I can’t go out much due to no elevator and I live I a second floor please HELP!!!
