New Yorkers won’t have to do anything to receive an inflation refund check from the state, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul.

A timeline for when the checks will be sent out is being finalized in the state budget, which has not been approved yet, Hochul said. Over 8 million residents automatically qualify for the refund as long as they filed their returns for the most recent tax year.

    Hochul does it again. She doesn’t think about how it makes the most sense to give out this refund.
    Many single mothers have the full financial family burden on their own shoulders and are only eligible for up to $200? While a married family, who can easily have 2 incomes gets $400?
    It would make more sense to give a certain amount depending on how many dependants are on the tax reports.
