Hurricane Larry Strengthens to Category 3 Storm

Hurricane Larry strengthened to a Category 3 storm overnight and is likely to remain a “major hurricane” for several days, according to the National Hurricane Center.

It’s not projected to hit the United States, but “dangerous surf and rip currents” are expected along the Atlantic Coast next week, the report states.

Larry is the 12th named storm of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season and has maximum sustained winds of 115 miles per hour.
