Over 200 people filled the hall @ the Jewish Children’s Museum on Monday night to enjoy the Aliya (Alternative Learning Institute for Young Adults) organization’s third annual banquet dedicated to the memory of Reb Leima Levitin Z”L. Chairman of the evening was Reb Leima’s brother in law Mr. Mottel Feiglin who is also the father of director R. Moishe Feiglin.

Dedication speeches were given by Dr. Harvey Lang, close friend of Reb Leima, Dr. Rosen, father of staff member and involved board member, Gary Levine representative of Chabad of Brooklyn Heights (Aliya Yeshivah), Moishe Altman, father of 2 Aliya students and Moishe Feiglin, Director.

Awards were presented to famous boxer Yuri Foreman for his training of the students of Aliya. Ari Chitrik, board member presented the Chessed award to honorees Mr. & Mrs. Assaf Fitoussi. Mr Fitoussi has also undertaken to establish a Real Estate training and licensing program for boys involved with ALIYA.

Attendees also enjoyed a museum tour, mentalist, live music from the ALIYA band, a video presentation and a gourmet buffet that was enjoyed by all.

The banquet was also graced by many members of the Feiglin family who flew in from Australia for the event including Reb Shmuel Feiglin, Moishe’s Zaida and father in law of Reb Leima Z”L. He is the youngest son of the original Moishe Zalmen Feiglin who together with his family was the only Lubavitcher family living continuously in Australia from 1912 and at the Frierdiker Rebbe’s request brought out the other original Lubavitch families to Australia in 1948 and ‘49.

Special thanks goes to the entire board of Aliya especially Ari Chitrik for making such a beautiful evening possible.
