Is having a Beard Good for Your Health?

Is having a Beard Good for Your Health? A recent study from the University of Queensland says it likely is.

From the Daily Star:

If you’re worried about getting cancer, it might be time to grow a beard.

According to a recent study from the University of Queensland, facial fuzz can protect a man’s face from 90 to 95% of harmful UV rays from the sun.

This means that a large portion of a man’s face is protected from being sunburnt – which can help prevent skin cancer.

Lead author, Professor Parisi said: “While beards will never be as sun-safe as sunscreen, they certainly are a factor in blocking UV rays.”

While this certainly doesn’t mean men with beards should skip sunblock, it just means that a portion of their skin is safer from the sun.

Having a beard could also help to slow down ageing. This is because less exposure to the sun means less wrinkles and age spots.

If you go to North Williamsburg, Bklyn after the bridge you will see a lot of hipsters & yuppies with full big beards, they look so so Jewish, it’s amazing that they’re not, if they would put on a Shtreimel with a long black bekesheh they would even look Chassidish, full beards are very very very in style today, shaving is outdated, today you wana be really cool, you go with a full beard, goatees used to be in style, not anymore

It also says in Sfarim that having a full beard (ie not shaving or trimming it in anyway shape or form) brings lots of Success in everything, plus as a Frum Yid & a Lubavitcher how could u write such a comment like that, are u implying that shaving is better, u could get vitamin d to the rest of your face. As well acc to the צמח צדק, shaving or trimming is “completely” Asur & an Isur Doraisa.
