Students of Online School Don’t Miss Out on Parade

When the Chinuch Yaldei Hashluchim department of the Shluchim Office began discussing the Online Parade, they never imagined how real it would be.

On Thursday, over 300 families, Hebrew school and shluchim joined together for the first ever Online Parade.

The chayus that was felt from that parade was tangible. For children of shluchim who didn’t have the privilege of attending the Rebbe’s Lag B’omer parade, here was a chance to try and see what it was it like.

Rabbi Yehuda Teichtel, a Shliach in Germany, began the parade by welcoming everyone from all around the world and really putting everyone in to the spirit of Lag B’omer

After reciting the Pesukim as “one Mishpacha” they were privileged to have a parade of floats. Shluchim from around world created floats for the parade, out of food, supplies, lego, computers and house goods such as bottle caps! The Freundlichs in China made a float by collecting all different Tzedaka boxes and filling them with Chinese Money. The Teichtels from Champaign, Illinois made an incredible float about Limmud Hatorah – they showed all different people learning.

The Tiechtel family of Champaign, IL; Rubashkin family of Valrico, Florida; Posner Family of Rancho Mirage, CA; Freundlich Family of Beijing, China; Laufer Family of Rhode Island; Maimonides Hebrew Day School of Fort Myers, Florida; Krinsky Family of Needham, MA; Ezagui Family of Palm Beach, Florida; Benjaminson Family of New Bedford, MA and Rosenblum family of Brussels, Belgium all created incredible floats on the 10 mivtzoim.

To give the students the effect of a real lag b’omer parade, the 6th grade online school dressed up as clowns and did stunts, juggling and more to make sure all the kinderlach felt that they were at a real parade. An integral part of every parade is the marching band and this parade was no different! The marching band of the 5th grade of Online School was led by Sholom Posner of Rancho Mirage, California.

a Bobby who is on Shlichus in EY had a genius idea: her einiklach, on Shlichus in CIS, would join her local parade by reciting a posuk via Skype. The local kids were thrilled to meet (virtually) kinderlach giving up daily pleasures for the Rebbe and his Shlichus, and the jr. Shluchim were thrilled to watch and be part of a parade and rally in Eretz Yisroel. The mini Shluchim got a standing ovation from the crowd, and it was the high point of the day! And Bobby was proudest of all, having been zoche to a second generation of Shlucho shel Ododm kemeisei working to bring Moshiach to the boondocks.
