Earth-Friendliness & Peace on a Montreal Street Corner
Demotix
Montreal Shliach Rabbi Yisroel Bernath built an eco-friendly sukkah on the corner of Monkland Boulevard. He made the walls from recyclable pieces of cardboard and each and single piece of packaging material contains a peace slogan.
Rabbi Bernath explained his initiative as being done “for peace”. “Our Jewish holiday is meant to remember the past, and lasts eight days.”
A very imaginative person, rabbi Bernath took advantage of the holiday and used for the walls of his sukkah pieces of cardboard. Finally, after everything was put in place he called the construction “the Peace Wall.”
