3 Cars Broken Into In 3 Days

The First two incidents occurred on Thursday where an SUV and a Commercial Van were broken into, the Van had its window broken and Dashboard taken apart to get to the radio and the SUV had its window shattered for the Tzedakah box that was visible.

The incident with the SUV took place in broad daylight on E. New York and Kingston and the owner took care to call the police and file a report, police came down and dusted the car for fingerprints, and the perp apparently got cut and left a speck of blood on the door handle. The incident with the Van took place later that Thursday just across the intersection of E. New York and Kingston and was not reported.

More in the Extended Article!

On Motzoai Shabbos another car was broken into on Montgomery between Albany and Troy, the perp broke the small window of the rear door and took some loose change, the perp also went through the contents of the glove box in search of other valuables. A few Bochurim who noticed the perp get out of the car called Shomrim who responded immediately and did a canvas of the surrounding blocks with no success in locating the perp.

Residents need to remember that if you are a victim of any crime, if it was not reported it did not happen. All crimes are logged in a system called the ‘compstat’ which based on the figures inputted by the reports that are filed, is what determines which parts of our neighborhood gets more patrols or less, which areas are more prone to certain types of crimes, like this more patrols can be put out accordingly and hopefully suppress further occurrences of such crimes.

It seems we have a new car thief in Crown Heights and residents should take care and not leave anything of values in your car that is in plain sight. If you see anyone looking into cars or that seems suspicious do not hesitate to call Shomrim at (718) 774-3333 any time of day on any day!

Nu, so where’s Hanina and his police pull these days? He’s apparantly told his troops that his days as a political boss are gone, over. He’ll be acting more as the senior statesman, in private life.

  • broken window victim

it must be the same guy that broke the windows of 2 cars on Thursday early AM. The incident happened in front of 706 Eastern parkway. The perp was an elderly shvartzeh with no teeth. He was chased away by a resident of 706. Supposedly, he was arrested once for breaking into the cars and the police released him.

without a doubt we are the most pathetic community when it comes to protecting ourselves, getting our voices heard and getting something done about it.

  • to chrup!!:

what do you expect to be done? Guys crime happens everywhere. The only thing we can do is report every crime and demand more police on patrol.

They Should put police all over on every block of Crown Heights and not 50 of them on eastern parkway!!

  • COMMUNITY COUNCIL WANTED AND NEEDED

Well, well, last night I got my turn they broke a window in my car. yet I disagree with yoss, the bus. crime happens everywhere! My daughter lived in Australia where they barely allow Shvartzehs into the country, and she had her car broken into and robbed right in her own private driveway of her one family home. I do agree with sick of crime though, the council should be more active in taking care of its community. (I shouldn’t really say more as they don’t do anything at all). I never had the feeling that if I had a problem I have a council that would assist me. On the contrary when I had a problem with police and I went to the council THERE WAS NO BODY HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • cali rox!!!!

ch was nvr a safe place….it is soo scary there even durin the day….when i came into ch, sometimes i get so scared to walk the streets….they shoudl have polics standin around all the time and they should catch these ppl!

Sadly, the whole council needs to be revamped at this point – the machloikes is making it totally ineffective in all aspects of community life.

As for the police, if they are not doing their job, the protest has to be grass roots and not from any so-called official body because the police probably know themselves that the official bodies here are not performing as they should.
