Crown Heightsers who went to Daven in 770 on any given day of Yom Tov would have noticed a large police presence in front of 770 and the Jewish Children’s Museum. 15 police cars form different precincts across New York City including Manhattan, Bronx and Queens were seen, leaving residents wondering what was really going on.
Police would never give a straight answer as to what they were doing, one thing that they were clear about is; they were ‘exercising’, driving across the 5 boroughs with a lot of vehicle movement to show people they are out there. Yesterday was the biggest show of police force, where more the 45 Police cars lined up Kingston that overflowed into Union Street and Eastern Parkway, they even had a full communications command post posted up along the Museum.
Rumors and speculations have it that the police were observing ‘Hasidic’ behavior in preparation for the passing of the Satmer Rebbe, and the riots that may ensue. Others were of the opinion that the Jewish Children’s Museum received terrorist threats and so the police added great protection. The bottom line is that we got the benefit of the added security and Police presence.

wow! thats great. maybe their scared that we’ll riot, so their adding protection.
chabad
its about time that we actually start having some decent security. enough is enough. how much more has to be done before we actually get something that is half decent?? maybe, we are starting to get somewhere…
Yos
The cops are finally waking up.
chayim
it doesn’t help if its just for show. they have to really wake up and know that we need the protection constantlyand not on kingston ave (so that only jews see it)but rather on utica ave scanectaty ave which is where it really counts. they have to come to the realizeation that B"H there are always tons of jews at all times of day or night on kingston so its not so dangerous but utica ave……is
wondering
i dont get what the passing of the Satmer Rebbe has to do?
not from around here.....
There was a news article from the New York Post online that claims the Police presence is in fact waiting to see if there will be rioting when the Satmar Rebbe passes. The article said he is gravely ill, and that he has two sons who do things differently and the communities are split.

After having a lengthy conversation with one of the police captains and an inspector who explained the entire procedure to me I can say a few things.
A) This is part of an overall citywide anti-terrorism emergency crisis preparedness training.
B) The periodic show of force has the effect of letting the people they drive by(not on Kingston, they just came there to group and get their directions) know that the police are here and prepared to act, thereby making criminals think twice before committing a crime.
C) It is also practice fr the police to facilitate large gatherings of police in case of an emergency. To practice traffic control, communication, and organization as all the police arrive, and to effectively administer the details of their respective missions.
The police are not just here to monitor the Hasidim, for if they were why would there be police here from all over all of the five boroughs, and no police from the precincts immediately surrounding CH and Williamsburg who would be the first to respond in the event of a riot in their communities??

As described in the article; the communications truck was there solely for the exercise which took place on the last day of yom tov.
And I quote the article:
"Yesterday was the biggest show of police force, where more the 45 Police cars lined up Kingston that overflowed into Union Street and Eastern Parkway, **they even had a full communications command post posted up along the Museum**."
to cool man
yo u got that for the past 30 years
Lubavitch Doctor
This is part of the NYPD anti-terror unit.
They show up at high profile places and maintain a large police presence.
60 minutes had this profiled a few weeks ago
To RABBI
Did you mean to write FINALLY?
Moshiach Now [whoever he is}
According to my inside information the NYPD are very concerned about strong rumors that Satmar chassidim [after the passing of their leader] will follow us in claiming their rebbe as undead and declare him as Moshiach, which will no doubt upset our chassidim – risking a HUGE riot between groups.
chana
they should have alot of protection when we need it like by the attacks
Halevai!
That problem wouldn’t be so bad .That would be the best problem of all!
A. B. Schreiber
Ha Ha to poster "Moshiach Now!"
kratz

everyoneisachasid
the only comment which makes any sense is the one from the lubavitch doctor. the one that makes half sense is the one from informed. all the rest would do better if they wouldn’t show their ignorance in a public arena.
to everyoneisachasid
thats not very nice
The EAR
