On the 27th of Adar I, 5752 (Monday, March 2, 1992), the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, suffered a disabling stroke while praying at the gravesite of the previous Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak of Lubavitch. On the same date two years later, the Rebbe lost consciousness following another stroke; three months later, on the 3rd of Tammuz 5754 (June 12, 1994), the Rebbe's soul ascended on high, orphaning a generation.

In honor of the 14th anniversary of the 27th of Adar, 5752, COL presents accounts of an interesting episode concerning the Rebbe's dollars:

R. Zalman Chanin of Crown Heights would get the package of dollars of the Rebbe prior to their distribution so that he would place them into 'Kuntresses' before handing them out. If there were leftover dollars, he would return them to the Rebbe.

A few days prior to the distribution of the last Kuntres handed out by the Rebbe, namely ‘VeAtoh Titzaveh’ (which the Rebbe recited on Shabbos Parshas Titzaveh, 10th of Adar, 5741), R. Chanin received the parcel of dollars and as usual inserted them into the Kuntresses.

When he was left with a few dollars, he, as usual handed them to the Rebbe, but this time the Rebbe told him, “Leave them for the next time”.

G-d willing may that ‘the next time’ be very soon.

I agree with "I feel this is not respectful…"
the definition of an orphan is someone who ch"v lost both of his parents. Even though we don’t see the Rebbe m"hm with our physical eyes he’s with us just as before. I’ve gotten many beautiful answers from the Rebbe through the igros kodesh. A true orphan isn’t even able to communicate with his parents. We however are able to communicate with our Rebbe. May we see him now!

    I’m glad you agree..
Everyone else should too. I think who ever on chabad.org who wrote this peice should rewrite it in an unoffensive manner. Who’s the proof reader for that site any way???

Throughout history we heard from orphans that they communicated with their departed parents.
what is disrespectful about saying we have been orphaned?
To say that the Rebbe is with us "just as before" is simply ridiculous.
It’s about time people face reality.
May we be reunited with our beloved Rebbe and see him "just as before" speedily, amen.

well if life is so good and the rebbe still talk’s to us and we can talk to him then gimmel tammuz couled have been in 1970 all we needed him is to write letters to print in igros and we can live out lives the way we do now in all the trash and get the answers that we want !!!!

What do you mean the answers we want.
Every true chossid knows that whatever the Rebbe says we do. No questios asked. There are plenty of stories about pple goign to the Rebbe for dollars for a brocha and the Rebbe gave them brochas that they weren’t expecting. You sound liek a kid saying that I want my Mommy to give me the answer I want.
