Police Car Involved in Serious Accident
At around 1:30am this morning, a police car that was just getting underway in response to an emergency and had yet to turn on his lights and sirens, ran the light at the intersection of Troy Ave. and E. New York Ave. and slammed into a passing vehicle, sending it flying onto the nearby sidewalk, and shattering the passenger side of the car. The police car sustained quite some damage as well, sending both Officers to a nearby Hospital.
The driver, a black woman, was quite shaken up but said to have been ok, in a short conversation with the driver she said that as she was crossing the intersection all of a sudden heard a massive bang then feeling herself loose control of her car, noticing that she had just been hit, then all of a sudden the police car that hit her had its lights and sirens go off, and then shut off by an officer.
The cops were reported to have both been wearing their safety belts and are both ok. Police are investigating if the police car had been adhering to emergency traffic protocols, and if the civilian driver had itself obeyed traffic laws, no summonses have been issued.

this is a common thing… what do you mean they had not yet put on their safety lights… all it takes is a flick of a switch… it should be the first thing that they do so that they dont create a simillar type of scene that they were responding to …. cops constantly run light and fly all over crown heights with their lights off….. the only thing that surprises me is that they had the audacity to say that they had not yet turned them on, implying that they were going to later…. this is called covering their rear’s.

how can the 71 pct respond to scenes when they become a victim of a scene themselves.
scene safety first lessen in emergency care. doesnt our tax money cover costs for defensive driving for officers?
the lights should be put on before they tskr off, it’s true like what yl wrote, its a flick of a switch.
use our tax money wisely , hire responsible officers for a call of duty. now will pulling over JEWS pay for the cost of repairs to the sqaud car. antisemitism is not tolerated in the government ethicacy of conduct.
anonomous
Ofcorse the cop wasn’t obeying trafic protocols. You said he hadn’t even turned on their siren. Aren’t they supposed to put on the tiren before they drive off.
