Mayor Bloomberg Gives Condolences and Thanks to Vaad Hakohol
Yesterday afternoon Moshe Rubashkin Director of the CHJCC and the Yoshev Rosh Va’ad Hakohol received a surprising phone call from the Mayor, Michel R. Bloomberg.
The Mayor gave his condolences on the terrible loss of a member of the community R. Efraim Klein, and praised Rubashkin and the CHJCC for the way they have handled the situation.
Come-on Guys lets see the flames come out of these comments.

Finally! The politicians are recognizing Moshe Rubashkin as the elected leader of the Crown Heights Jewish community. They are finally learning that Chanina was no more than a self-appointed photo op (and he was never elected Chairman- Nuchy Gross was but Chanina swiped it from him with Hertzog).
Yasher Koach Moshe!

There is a vigil memorial at the corner of Schenectady and Carroll St’s near the area were the shooting took place. Please place any flowers yartzeit candles that you can in the corner. We need to keep the issue alive and generate as much publicity about the issue.

I’m a bit confused. A couple of days ago this blog had a piece regarding M. Rubashkin’s reaction/behavior after the shomrim incident in the summer. He has done nothing in efforts of security for this community.
While I must admit that he seems to have a good heart for charity that is NOT what a vaad hakol member’s primary duty is or should be.
Vaad Hakol primary purpose and focus should be bettering crown height’s on a general level i.e. more funding and programs for its residents. More police and security etc……..
M. Rubashkin seems to have his own political agenda. How much of a percentage really care about more Rabanim?? What percentage of Crown Heights uses them? Why is that the focus?
I think that the community deserves a detailed breakdown of who/where/what in this whole "rabonim" issue.
Is money that could be better spent on this community going towards rabonim and then more rabonim??
And if rabonim are hired and paid why should they be allowed to accept money from pple i.e. chometz & mesader kidushin?
I have nothing against present rabonim. Nor have I had any use of them. While I can agree that a community needs rabonim. I see no reason why time, effort and money is being utilized to hire more.
Why a vaad hakol member makes this a primary focus?
I think the community needs answer and details. These pple are public workers/ officials and therefore accountable to their community.
If people can comment or shed light I would be grateful
mendy
If the mayor is thanking them, something is very wrong…….

Why dont we all give a big Thank You to Reb Moshe Rubashkin for working selflessly for the community. Hes a real example of osek bzorchei zibur may more people learn from his example to give to the community selflessly. lets start with CH real estate people or devolopers to sell to Jews and not to flip for a huge profit. make homes in CH affordable. In short instead of being critical lets say thank You where its due. G-d Bless Reb Moshe

Thanks to the Vadd Hakol and to Moshe Rubashkin. I would like to note without mentioning any names that people that repersent CH the rebbes shuna should dress neatly and presentable, its a chilul hashem to look like a shlump

Can i know Why a Chiropractor named Harvey is in the picture i mean the whole picture?????????
Mendel Chein
I agree with Moshe Cohen. That member of the vaad hakol should look more presentable. The Vadd should look proffesional and business-like so people should take them seriously as leaders of a community, Not a chasidishe Melalve Malka. Thank you Reb Moshe Rubashkin and Vaad hakol for working hard for the community.

Time to put the truth to the public, Maybe Caninah Sperlin is a Safek Boneh, bot Moshe Rubashkin is a heres vadai. since his election to the Vaad Hakahal, (his election to the JCC can be terminated with one phone call) he has poured gasoline on any disagreements in Crown Heights. many factions agreed to disagree and cooler heads always prevailed. He enterd like a bulldozer or a bull in a china shop and instead of making sholom the way he touted himself that that would be his mandate, he intensified the machloikes one thousand fold. First the Rabanim, then the Vaad hakahal, now the Netzigim.
Concerned Toishav Hashechunah
I hope Crown Heights Info won’t begin to practice censorship or one sidded journalism like COL> Looks like many have defected from COL to CHI because of Soviet Union type of Journalism. Don’t fall into the trap they have. Toeing the party line and reporting based on beneficial treatment they hope to recieve from established entities. This is the United States of America. !st Amendment, Freedom of Speech.

I is a well known fact that Moshe Rubashkin has attempted to incur favors by offering financial assistance to certain people who unfortunately are subject to undue hardships. It is also a fact that he has numerous times used CHJCC/VAAD HAKAHAL funds to give renumeration for these favors. I am not an expert in the use of pubic funds for self betterment and a persons own political aspirations. But in chassideshe terms, "ich shmeck a neveilah"

Maybe he should be compelled to show the books of the community council. that might make him think twice. Can be don by a petition circulated among the voters
Sender K.
Rubashkin should know better, coming from a place wgere for two years he was under the aurhority of others, looks like he has a short memory, the wheels od justice grind slowly, every dog has it’s day
yitzchok
to Solom ZBer
You are mistaken, you don’t need a petition, according to hallacha and according to the law as well he is obligated to show the books. According to hallacha a gabbai tzedaka must show the books on demand and if he dosn’t he is considered an untrustworthy person. According to the law he must show the books and make himself available to the audit commitee that was formed according to the bylaws of the corporation. If he dosn’t then there are steps that are taken to remove him in order that community funds should not be under a shadow of uncertainty, which by the way, in this regard you are absolutely right
shmarya
I don’t understand, what is he hiding?
YITCHOK
TO SENDER,
i GOTTA DISAGREE WITH YOU, MAKES NO DIFFERENCE WHERE A PERSON SPENT THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, UNDER WHOSE AUTHORITY AND UNDER WHOSE LOCK AND KEY HE WAS PLACED, YOU GOTTA TAKE THE MAN FOR WHAT HE IS. THGE ONLY THING THAT BOTHERS ME IS HIS PSYCHOLOGICAL STATE. AS YOU SAY, AFTER BEING REMOVED FROM SOCIETY FOR THAT LENGTH OF TIME IT TAKES A WHILE TO ACCLIMATE ONES SELF TO NORMAL SOCIETY. THERE ARE SUPPORT GROUPS FOR FORMERLY INCARCERATED. i WONDER IF mOSHE RUBASHKIN IS UNDER SUPERVISED TRANSITION
Concerned Toishav hashechunah
listen shmarya, there might not be anything that he’s hiding, just the fact that he’s running the chjcc like his own business makes we wonder if he has all the paperwork and that he’s not comingling funds and the like. The Met Council gives a lot of grants to crown heights and in the event he’s running it like a chassidishe melave malka will not endear him to the powers that decide. Plus the fact that he runs the council like a despot, never in the history of the council have workers trembled day in day out to the extent that they feel like cherev chada moonach al tzvareihem.

Sender: you’re out of line, even though in a perfect world you would be right, in this instance when everybody hut zine pekel eez Moshe Rubashkin a mentch tzoovishen mentchen. Take for instance other pnei hakahal, even though they took a sabbatical from Crown Heights for a while they came back and contributed to the community big time. Moshe Rubashkin’s being put away made him a better person as far as materialistic things are concerned. He found out the hard way that Yesh din V’yesh Dayan. You can’t hold that against him. Mayor bllomberg shook himself off Rubashkin as was reported in the Daily News. Everybody knows that all politicians Identify with Crown Heights thru Chaninah Sperlin and thru Chaninah Sperlin only. To think and to contend otherwise is simply a joke.
PS who’s Lang????
toshav hashchuna
Mose Rubashkin is a man that we need more of in the shchuna, he is selfless and caring and warm to welcom,
he ran for the nitzigim even though he knew there would be people saying or writing things like the ones listed here earlier, and he ran with a intention to try and make a difference, yes it is possible that by the way there are also benefits to him personally, but at the end of the day he is there to try and make the jcc a more affective one for the shchuna.
that’s my two cents.
Truth in CH
Sheker Gas!
The mayor did not called Moshe Rubashkin. Mayor Bloomberg called Chanina.

Its good to see Crownheights.info being balanced by allowing the truth to be exposed on who Moshe Rubaskin really is instead of the party lines being touted that make him look like some type of a hero. Im not a political person but /i can smell a fraud from a mile away. Rubashkin and his so called Chesed is more akin to Robin Hood than to true Tzedoko. In reality hes just a tyrant on an ego trip who has caused more destruction in this Community than any vaad could possibly have done in the past 20 years, Its time the Community woke up. He is a Con artist and I fell for him by voting for him. My next vote is for his impeachment, if the Community ever gives me that opportunity.
Chazer fisl
I just got of the phone with Chanina he confirmed that he spoke to the mayor not Rubashkin and that the mayor wouldnt speak to Moshe Rubashkin for his fraudalent reputation. It is low to use the incident with Ephraim HY"D for his own kashering. Please CH.info before you report check it out. The picture is on COL but instead of Bloomberg insert there is the letter from Rubashkin.

Chazer fisl:
You know nothing! You think that by Chanina Sperlin telling you that he got the call, it makes his word valid? After all he’s a politician with an agenda.
But I happened to be sitting in that office when the call form the mayor came in. So before you go on and start blasting peoples credibility make sure your sources are reliable! (And no its not by calling up the politician and asking him, try being there yourself).
The picture that you see here is a picture I took in the office when the call came in, COL used this same picture as an illustration picture for a different article.
Everyone Else:
I am very happy to see so many people that know everything all so well! So let’s see, can it possibly be that the Mayor made 2 phone calls? (Some food for thought to you all)

Straight and to the point
I second the motion,
I believe he dosn’t have to be impeached, he’s automatically disqualified to serve by disseminating
letter against Rabbi Schwei.
Malaumner
Webby, can it be possible that the fraudster was pulling you leg, that in actuality there was nobody on the other line, How about plotkin wearing his sirtuk and standing in a fashion as if a telegram or a letter just arrived from the Rebbe.
Malaumner
Never in the history of Crown Heights has anybody had the gall and audacity to qoestion the legitimacy of a Rov on a public forum until thid mechutzif sent a letter to the whole community denouncing Rabbi Schweis election. what goes around comes around, if by a snowballs chance in gehinom this election takes place it will always be under a cloud of uncertainty and challenge becuase of his questioning of Rabbi Scweis election. I doubt many voters will come out because his mandate is his own ego, machloikes and dictatorial tactics. Until he publicly apologizes to Rabbi Schwei he has no businees in the representation of the community and defacto is in halachic limbo as to whether you can be metzaref him to a minyan or give him an aliyah.

I agree, Rubashkin’s chutzpah has transcended above and beyond the limit of mentchlikiet, to be mevazeh a talmid chacham berabim is an issur that cannot be excused and cannot be adjudicated in a Din Torah. The hallacha is that the person loses all right to due process and is automatically expelled and paseled from serving in any community position. However, Rubashkin will use strongarm tactics and will not budge from his position and will use force and terror to get his way. Rubashkin, you can run but you can’t hide, der eibershter vet deer oiszoochen oon vet deer fregen Ayekoh vos vest doo yemult entferen?

Rubashkin will bring a letter from one of his cronies saying that he was allowed to do it and did it with the permission of gushpanke demalke. those letters are a dime a dozen, so far Segal/din tora, Rbashkin/dint orah, netzigim/din torah have produced a letter from Rubashkin crony and cohort that they don’t have to appear. Corruptin par exellence!!! And starting at the top. Gushpanke D’malka,
yitzchok
To Shmarya,
Are you saying that Rubashkin was called to a din torah and produced a letter that he dosn’t have to appear? I can’t believe that.
malaumner
Leibish nash called segal to a din torah and he produced a letter saying that he dose’nt have to appear, believe it or not. Moshe Rubashkin was called to a din torah and he as well produced a letter that he dose’nt have to appear. Moshe Rubashkin produced a letter that he dose’nt have to submit financials to the audit commitee of the netzigim. Corruption at the top. cronyism and old boy network.
Sender K
The former netzigim executive commitee was called to a din torah and a letter was produced that they don’t have to appear. All the abovementioned letters were from the same authority. Gushpanke D’malke

It pains me to have to write about the corruption in our midst. Ober az ess toot vay shriet men. A handful of individuals abusing their power are burying the community. Burying the koichois the Rebbe put in to make this a vibrant peaceful community. all for the sake of one individual who thinks the assets of the community belong to him so he can place all of his sons in the employ of entities belonging to the Kahal. When will this all stop. Ven vet shoen nemen a sof tzoo me’ilah b’hekdesh? When are cummunity assets going to be returned to it’s rightful owners? Voo eez menchlichkiet? voo eez a bisel Yiras Shomayim??
shmarya
To Yizchok,
Yes I know it as a fact, Moshe Rubashkin was called to a din torah and did not appear. If you are in cahoots Gushpanke d’malke/ Rubashkin/segal, you don’t have to appear before a din torah
member of anash uninvolved in politics
It seems as though this so called "gushpanke demalke" is the source of all the corruption and the cause for the breakdown of the Beis Din , Vaad Hakohol and Netzigim. This will (if it hasnt already)turn Crown heights into a state of anarchy. Where are Ziknei Anash? Where are the decent Netzigim? There is no outrage at all in the Community other than on a few intenet blogs. Ad Mosai!!!!

Yiras Shomayim? man dechar shmey. Kesef!!! ohev kesef lo yisbah kesef. It became an obssesion. A disease. An illness, a sickness. People do illogical things when it comes to money. That’s exactly what the Torah tells us about shochad. The Hechsher stinks, nobody trusts us, our reputation is in the toilet, Crown Heights and by extension Lubavitch has been soiled beyond repair, we give a hechsher to a turkey deli producing factory in Israel when even Mizrachi people don’t put it into their mouth. The Hechsher is not controlled by Rabbanim but by a bunch od hoodlums. A chilul Hashem, A chilul Lubavitch, a rachmones af unz.
