Family Displaced After Suspicious Early Morning Fire

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — An earlier morning fire displaced a Jewish family on Lincoln Place and fire marshals believe the fire to have started under suspicious circumstances.

At around 6:30am a fire broke out in the top floor of 1089 Lincoln Place, between Kingston and Albany Avenues, where a mother lives with her daughter. A fire broke out in the middle of the dining room table, with no apparent reason why.

According to the mother she had let a friend of her son stay over and while he denies having anything to do with the fire, marshals were suspicious. It appeared to the investigators that the man was trying to light up some sort of contraband and instead he ended up setting fire to the table.

The fire caused a serious amount of smoke and smoke damage and the fire department had to cut holes in the roof for ventilation.

B”H no one was injured.

‘where a mother lives with her daughter…’

‘According to the mother she had let a friend of her son stay over…’

anyways fires don’t start themselves in the middle of the table…

  • To No. 1

Who on earth would try to kasher a wood table with fire? Sometimes you do know. These issues in our community have to be dealt with, not denied.

  • lesson to be learned

One important lesson is that you can never be too careful as to who to accept as tenants!
Always check things out carefully as pssible if your a landlord.

  • Moshiach NOW

Nonsense. Nobody will burn something in a shared apartment. Furthermore, it was only the table burnt down. He could not put out the fire with some water? Who called the fire department? The neighbors? The mother, or he himself?
