Rosh Chodesh Kislev in Chicago
The annual Chicago Rosh Chodesh Kislev Seudah was held on Tuesday evening in Chicago. More than 250 men, women and children assembled in great anticipation of another fantastic Rosh Chodesh Seudah coordinated by Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois and held at Cong. Bnei Reuven.
The theme of this year’s Seudah was Niggunei Chabad with special guest Meir Simcha Rivkin of Florida who recently released his first CD – “Expressions of the Soul”. Accompanied by Musician Avrohom Levine, Meir Rivkin sang a full repertoire of Niggunim inspiring the assembled with depth and richness of Niggunei Chabad. Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz, Head Shliach of Illinois began the program with an overview of Rosh Chodesh Kislev and gave a special welcome to the eight new families who recently moved to the Chicago Chabad community. A highlight of the evening was the announcing of a new nightly learning program in the Chabad shuls in West Rogers Park (Chicago) and the opportunity for the participants to win two fully paid trips to Israel. Then a letter was read from Dr. Ira Weiss – who is currently out of town – by Reb Ephraim Moscowitz a former teacher of Dr. Weiss. In the letter Dr. Weiss described some of the lessons that could be derived from this special day.
A full Seudah was served thanks to the dedicated efforts of Reb Yitzchok Kosofsky, and a team of volunteers.
After the formal program, a Chassidishe Farbrengen continued with special guest Rabbi Gershon Grossbaum of Minnesota, and local shluchim Rabbi Baruch Hertz, Rabbi Moshe Binyomin Perlstein, and Rabbi Baruch Epstein.
