Rabbi Gerlitzky Celebrates his 61st Birthday with his Class

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A long-standing tradition was honored once again today when Crown Heights residents woke to find the streets of the neighborhood filled with signs wishing “happy birthday R. Avrohom”, those signs were referring to Rabbi Avrohom Gerlitzky who celebrated his 61st birthday today.

Following the tradition the Bochurim ‘surprised’ their Maggid Shiur with a unique cake, designed after the cover of the Kovetz Haores Ubiurim, in the Zal then the Bochurim went downstairs to one of the classrooms for a Farbrengen.

During the Farbrengen the Bochurim presented Rabbi Gerlitzky with a two gifts, one was a leather-bound safer he complied called “Yemos HaMoshiach BeHalacha” which is out of print, and the other was a new LCD computer screen, which will replace his outdated CRT monitor. This gift complements last year’s where the Bochurim gave him the “Otzar Hachochma” which is a collection of every Safer published in digital format.
