Siyum Sefer Torah to Celebrate Yud-Gimmel Tammuz in Crown Heights

The Crown Heights community is invited to join a joyous Siyum Sefer Torah celebration in honor of Yud-Gimmel Tammuz, the Festival of Liberation, marking the miraculous release of the Frierdiker Rebbe from Soviet imprisonment and the triumph of Torah and Jewish life.

The event will take place on Sunday, June 28, 2026 (Yud-Gimmel Tammuz 5786) at Congregation Adat Israel, 672 Lefferts Avenue, and will feature the completion of a new Sefer Torah, a lively procession through the neighborhood, spirited hakafos, dancing, and a festive seudah.

Community members of all ages are encouraged to participate in this special occasion, which combines the joy of a Siyum Sefer Torah with the celebration of one of the most significant dates on the Chabad calendar.

The program will begin at 12:00 PM with a reception and gathering at Congregation Adat Israel. At 1:00 PM, the Siyum Sefer Torah ceremony will take place, followed by a Grand Torah Procession at 1:30 PM as participants escort the new Sefer Torah through the streets of Crown Heights.

At 2:15 PM, the celebration will continue with hakafos and dancing, accompanied by live music and community-wide rejoicing. The festivities will conclude with a Seudah at 3:00 PM at Simcha Hall.

The Sefer Torah is being dedicated l’iluy nishmas Aryeh Leib ben Osher Zelig a”h, and organizers are encouraging the entire community to attend and share in the simcha.

Echoing the words of the Frierdiker Rebbe, featured on the event flyer: “The Almighty redeemed not only me on Yud-Gimmel Tammuz, but all who cherish our holy Torah.”
