Free Health & Wellness Fair Coming to Lefferts Park This Thursday
As Older Americans Month is observed across the country, a major community event focused on senior wellness and healthy living is coming to the heart of Crown Heights.
The Interborough Developmental and Consultation Center (IDCC-Crown Heights) will host its 2nd Annual Community Senior Health & Wellness Fair on Thursday, May 28, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Hamilton Metz Field in Lefferts Park, located on East New York Avenue between Albany and Kingston Avenues.
The outdoor event is open to the entire community and will feature health resources, wellness information, entertainment, and activities geared toward older adults and their families. Organizers say the fair is designed to connect seniors with vital services while creating an uplifting and welcoming atmosphere for residents of all ages.
Among the highlights planned for the afternoon are chair yoga sessions, live music with a DJ, wellness information booths, community resources, and giveaways. A wide range of healthcare organizations, nonprofits, advocacy groups, and city agencies are expected to participate.
The event is being held in honor of Older Americans Month and aims to promote healthy aging, preventative care, and community support for Crown Heights seniors. Local organizations and healthcare providers will also be available to answer questions and help connect attendees with services related to health, caregiving, wellness, and senior assistance programs.
IDCC has long been involved in community-based wellness initiatives throughout Brooklyn and has partnered with numerous organizations over the years to provide mental health and support services to residents.
Community health and wellness fairs have continued to grow across Brooklyn in recent years as organizations work to provide accessible health information and support services directly within neighborhoods.
Admission to the event is free and all are welcome.
