After Years Of Remaining Vacant, Permits Filed For Troy Ave Lot

by CrownHeights.info

The corner lot on Troy Ave and Carroll Street in Crown Heights has remained empty for many years, testament to the dreams of a hopeful developer.

The developer, Crown Heights resident Abraham Lokshin, may soon see his dream come true with permits having been filed for a building to be built on the long empty lot.

Located at 341 Troy Ave, Lokshin has filed to build a 54-foot-tall, five-story residential building with 48,342 square feet designated for residential space, according to newyorkyimby. The building will have 31 residences, most likely condos based on the average unit scope of 1,559 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar and 32 enclosed parking spaces.

For the Jewish community of Crown Heights, this is excellent news.

While many buildings have been built in Crown Heights within the last few years, almost none of them have a Jewish family in mind, primarily devoting space to one and two bedroom apartments and cramped three bedrooms targeting Section 8 housing. According to these numbers, the building appears to be thought out with Jewish families in mind.

The filing of building permits, which has been years in the making, appears to follow the settling of a years old dispute between the property developer and residents on Carroll Street who claimed that a tall building would be detrimental to their homes.

There go our parking places, which are as it is, at a premium, since every morning people park here when they go up to the train. Derech ho’oilim people park on the street because it’s easier.

      No at all correct.
The entrance to the parking can be on the side & next to the fire hydrant where you can’t park at all.
Also, isn’t there a bus stop on Troy Ave? Thr entrance can be there as well. They won’t be taking any legal spots at all.
      Kudos to Avremel Lokshin.

Let’s not get it wrong. Most of the buildings going up in Crown Heights are Jewish owned. They just chose section 8 over there people. Money money money. 😥
