Enormous Lease Signed For New Crown Heights Supermarket

Lidl, the rapidly growing supermarket chain in Brooklyn, has nabbed a coveted 33,000 square foot piece of Crown Heights Real Estate in a deal that will bring the supermarket to the edge of Crown Heights.
According to The Real Deal, the supermarket inked a 15-year lease for the ground floor of 1730 Bedford Avenue, a “being built” building at the site of the old Firestone on the corner of Empire Blvd and Bedford Ave.
The deal, signed in July of this year, was originally asking for $45 per square foot, and was part of a building development that included 57 apartments.
The inclusion of Lidl to the area, ends an old argument of a “food desert” with the closing of the Associated Supermarket on Nostrand Ave.
