Most NYC Public Schools See Fewer Enrolled Students, Crown Heights Public School Loses 15% of Their Student Body
by CrownHeights.info
As Crown Heights’s Jewish schools continue to see unprecedented growth, the local public schools have seen a massive drop.
According to a state report, a local Crown Street public school located adjacent to Beth Rivkah saw a perilous 15% drop in enrollment, a heavy blow to he already embattled school. The school building already houses a Charter School as well as its Public School, of which in both cases many of the students are bussed in from other areas of Brooklyn.
The drop is not just unique to Crown Heights, with 75% of New York City’s public schools seeing a loss in student enrollment.
According to Chalkbeat New York, nearly 23% of New York City’s public schools lost 10% or more of their students. Black and white students in grades K-12 saw the largest drops of all racial groups this school year, declining about 7.5% each. Asian American student enrollment dropped 5%. For Latino students, the drop was 4.5%.
Years Ago
My shwigger used to teach in that public school 53 years ago. Crown Heights was very different then.
That's Great News
I hope they’re transferring to school districts that are focused on real education. As opposed to the Regents program, which focuses way too much on brainwashing the kids with nonsense like the environment, and social politics.
