“We are concerned for the health and well-being of the community during the COVID pandemic,” said Rabbi Shea Hecht of NCFJE. “We want to allow everyone the opportunity to observe the treasured minhag in the safest way possible.”

$5 Kaporos will be held on Thursday, 6 Tishrie, 5781 – September 24, 2020, at the Beth Rivkah Parking, entrance on Montgomery Street. Starting at 1 pm. Purchase tickets here NCFJE.org/kaporos

The NCFJE thanks our sponsors for making subsidized Kaporos available for Crown Heights residents. NCFJE also thanks the Vaad of Beth Rivkah for accommodating the community.

Kaporos is an ancient custom dating back to the times of the Gaonim, and observed in communities around the world. Executive Vice President of the NCFJE, Rabbi Yaakov Yehuda ā€œJJā€ Hecht OBM, began reviving widespread observance of Kaporos in the early 1970s. The Rebbe encouraged his efforts and would ask after details of the operations, including the number of birds used, the expenses, shechita and who took part.
