Buildings Departments Evicts Over 100 Guests From President St Home

Over 100 guests squeezed into a President St home were evicted by city officials Monday afternoon. The eviction stemmed from a complaint made to the Department of Buildings claiming that about 50 underage people had taken up residence. Both the Department of Buildings and the Fire Department were on hand as the guests were evicted.

President St between Troy and Albany Ave became a hotbed of activity Monday afternoon, as over 100 guests found themselves without a place to stay for Tishrei.

The home, located at 1493 President St, had been vacant and up for sale before Tishrei, and rented to a Hachnasas Orchim organization for the month.

According to the Department of Buildings website, the home was illegally being occupied by over 100 people.

The eviction was instigated by a call made to the Department of Buildings alleging that about 50 underage people had taken up residence in the previously vacant home.

Suitcases and other personal belongings could be seen outside the home as officials from the Department of Buildings and Fire Department cleared the home.
