Police Discover Exotic Zoo in Crown Heights Apartment

Crown Heights [CHI] — Late last Friday night, the NYPD removed over a dozen exotic animals from an apartment in Crown Heights. All told, police seized 13 animals, including two alligators, two bearded dragons, five pythons, a boa constrictor, a gecko, a scorpion, and a tarantula.

Police were executing a search warrant on an unrelated matter when they made the bizarre discovery in the housing project apartment. The NYPD Animal Care and Control took the animals to a public shelter.

It is illegal to have exotic animals inside of public housing projects, according to police. Most of the animals were being kept in fishtanks.

Cops didn’t say what the initial search warrant was for. No one was at home during the search though, and no arrests have been made in relation to either the animals or the search warrant.
