“Nightlife” Getting New Life

“Nightlife,” the program made popular among young single women in the community just a few years ago, is coming back to life under the new directorship of Rabbi Chaim Miller and his wife Chani, along with a committee of dedicated volunteers. Their first objective: A fall semester with the opening event on Tuesday, September 11.

“We’re looking forward to getting Nightlife going again,” says Chani Miller, the invigorating force behind this incarnation of the program. “There’s not much happening for young single women these days, so this gives them the opportunity to get together, enjoy themselves and stay inspired. It affects the whole community.”

Geared for age 19 and up, the launch will unveil the program’s new location – a cozy indoor/outdoor deck in the heart of Crown Heights. Just off Kingston Avenue, it’s the perfect space for participants to socialize and relax in an informal setting.

Organizers have prepared an impressive entertainment lineup, including singing sensation Esther Freeman and performances by the all-female rock band known as the “Bullet Proof Stockings.”

A total of 10 sessions are planned for the fall semester, which will begin with the opening event and continue after the yomim tovim.

“Our committee has worked hard to plan an event that will be enjoyable and inviting,” Chani says. “We’re serving a catered dairy supper and homemade desserts. It’s going to be a great ‘welcome back’ for the young women of Crown Heights.”

It would be great if there could be some separate events for the more mature crowd. Say, 25 and up. Not shidduch related, just regular events, but without all the annoying young girls around.
