CHYE Announces New Mentorship Program

This week members of the advisory committee for Crown Heights Young Entrepreneurs (CHYE) gathered to discuss the launch of a new mentorship program.

The new program, open to all men and women of the Crown Heights community, serves CHYE’s mandate of empowering young professionals. Free to members of CHYE, the mentorship program will pair those seeking guidance for their specific business or career choice with select individuals experienced in their desired field.

According to Rabbi Yeshoshua Werde, the program’s director, “the mentorship program was born with the vision of breeding professional excellence in our community, through mutual reciprocity.”

The initial launch set for June 21 will give CHYE members access to 30 mentors from the community.

Shmuel Goldman, who serves on the CHYE advisory board along with Meir Eichler, Sholom Ber Bryski, Dovid Smetana, Yosef Apflebaum, Shlomie Drimmer and Shmuel Brook, sees the program as an essential service for those aspiring to enter the world of business.

“When starting out, there’s nothing more valuable than access to experience,” Goldman say. “If you can avoid the mistakes others have made . . . then you’re ahead of the game.”

Additional information can be found on CHYE’s website in the coming weeks.

Go Yeshuah!!! He’s at it again…We’re proud of you bro!

I wish them much success. There is no greater tzedaka than helping someone find a job

But how about helping to advance the careers of those that are already in the job market?

With so many wealthy Anash and “Friends of Lubavitch” etc. why aren’t more Chassidim offered real jobs?

Recently I was laid-off for a period. I have over 15 years of experience working in Fortune 500 companies and I also have a large family.

In my field, there are scores of mid and large size companies whose owner or upper management is Jewish. (or even a Lubavitcher)

Yet when it comes to interviewing at such a company, I have to apply and pass the approval of every non-Jewish underling and manager (who naturally is more interested in hiring his own people). Sometimes the owner is not-even aware that I am applying.

Sometimes I feel like screaming to the CEO or head of the department:

“Hey, I’m interviewing at your company, I’m qualified, I’m Jewish just like you, how about an iota of preferential treatment? How about doing a Mitzvah?
How about giving me a hand (not a hand-out)? How about overlooking some things and helping out a “landsman”?
So what if you hire another person with a beard and kipah, or who keeps Shabbos? Must you be so afraid of “Lamah yomru hagoyim”?

And please don’t try to tell me that there are hiring procedures and rules etc and that your hands are tied.

I have seen so many people in huge companies hire their “friends” and compatriots (who many times are un-qualified) that the whole HR thing is a farce.

So if you are in a position to hire, please consider the above comments. In this economy, more than ever,we need a Mivtza “Give a Jew a Job”

    Happy Shavuos

Most of them have been on school boards, that is until the greedy administrators refuse to open all the books.

  • YASHER KOACH TO THE BOARD & RABBI WERDE

It’s heart-warming to see each of these financial role models with untrimmed beards.

Tangible proof to our youth that one need not compromise to gain financial success. The opposite is true. Their beards bring them the brochos that the 13 middos hoRachamim draw down

Thanks to everyone on the board. Special Yasher Koach to
Rabbi Werde whose creativity, and dedication to the young people of CH made his goal a reality.

How Many Crown Heightsers are employed by this rich Bussiness owners ?

  • Inspired Chabadnick

Just because a business owner is rich doesnt mean they are successful and just because they are successful doesnt mean they are rich.. These people pictured above all hire multiple chabadnicks. Also they all the schools and shluchim as well. People need to get out more.

Maybe come to the event and you will be inspired to stop talking so much trash..

A massive hakoras hatov needs to be given to anyone who wants to help other yidden and it should be publicized as much as possible to make other people want to get involved too!

The mentor program is not a “jobs” orgenisation.
Its for ppl who took the initiative to make some money and then the chye will be giving them the tools to be even more successful

Don’t kid yourself that the chye is a job creation program.
